St. Monica's children home is in place to actively support the girl child, and extend its outreach to neighbouring slum areas where the girl child is a victim of illiteracy, teenage pregnancies, prostitution, physical abuse and HIV/Aids.

The St. Monica Children Home was founded in 2002 with support from the neighbouring Christian community. The home was completed in 2003 and opened its doors to the first ten girls. Since then it has been a place of solace for the orphaned girl child within the community of Githurai and other surrounding slums. St Monica's is currently home to 60 girls and it is our hope that as we expand our support base to be able to touch the lives of more children in our community. The Children are aged between 4- 24 years.
